VirtualBruges Museums - Beguine's House

From the 12th century onwards, pious women made their home in Bruges' picturesque little beguine's houses. They devoted themselves mainly to the crafts of lacemaking and weaving. In the splendid courtyard of the Beguinage, one of these 17th century houses has been turned into a museum. It is certainly worth taking a look inside.

The museum gives a good impression of the way the beguines lived in earlier times. We can see that the beguines' houses are grouped around quiet inner courtyards with a well.
