VirtualBruges Museums - Brewery Gouden Boom |
| Would you like to know exactly how barley is processed into malt or how the round oaken beer barrels used to be made? In short, you will find the answer to all your questions about beer at the Brewery Museum. The museum is housed in the well-preserved malting-house and it was established in 1902 by the Vanneste family of brewers in Bruges. It was in use until 1976. With a wide range of interesting documents and objects, this museum gives a unique overview on the brewing process. As well as the production process and the history of beer, ample attention is also devoted to various other crafts and the pleasant cafe atmosphere since the turn of the century. In the present De Gouden Boom brewery you can taste the local beers known as 'Brugs Tarwebier' and 'Brugse Tripel' or Gruuthuse beer. An appointment is needed if you wish to visit the brewery itself. |
