VirtualBruges Museums - Guido Gezelle Museum

The Guido Gezelle Museum is situated between the Kruispoort and the Dampoort. Priest and poet Guido Gezelle was born at No. 64, Rolweg, on 1 May 1830. The house where he was born is now open to the public, and it is a small literary and educational museum. In fact this is the only literary museum in Bruges. Photographs, original manuscripts and documents relating to Gezelle are now stored in the city library, because of the damaging effect of artificial light. The house is a perfect reconstruction of the original interior. A tour allows us to recapture the atmosphere of the time in which Guido Gezelle grew up.
