Gruuthuse Palace

In 1425 Jan IV of Bruges began building work on the east wing of a new palace in the typical Bruges building style. His son Lodewijk van Gruuthuse was an eminent diplomat and a great patron of the arts. He had the imposing wing by the inner courtyard built in the second half of the fifteenth century.
